If we know that everyone Facebook stalks and we are aware that people make assumptions, why do we all keep posting our secrets online? Because the person posting is the one in charge. If you post good things, people will think good things. Facebook stalking and researching online is the same concept as it is offline and is the same as it's always been. You learn about someone through hard work and careful planning. The only difference now is the medium. Online is much faster and comes complete with pictures, statuses, and likes. We all use Facebook and other sites to be a part of this large social group, gain followers, and look good. This is now how we communicate and strengthen friendships with people both online and offline. So go blog, tweet, comment, hash tag, like, pin, and blog. Potential friendships are only a mouse click away.

Just Keep Stalking

So what's the thing that starts assumptions, secrets, and social groups? The answer is Facebook stalking. Many people who make assumptions and social media gossip do it from Facebook stalking someone or someones. Stalking comes in categories of stalking for entertainment, research, and monitoring. As one friend said, let's call her Molly, she researched her future roommates on Facebook before meeting them, then predicted their personalities. And she was pretty much right. Talk about a sixth sense. Social media can also be used to keep track of someone, such as an ex. Looking at posts and profiles online is an acceptable way of research because it can be done secretly and doesn't harm anyone. The mission is now possible.

What's the Password?

Sometimes, being a part of the club requires a fee. And being a part of a friendship can also require a fee of some sort. Some people must donate their time and effort to remain friends, with the fee being a lack of privacy. Many groups unite their views and have shared feelings to change each individual private life into a common public area. I've found that this is especially true for many girls. Many relationships between girls and their friends are strengthened when they share stories. And sharing stories and opinions can happen through the Internet and Facebook. Lots of girls do the same things on Facebook, such as constantly checking out a certain person's profile or looking at that one friend's status updates that are simply hilarious. It's not weird if everybody does it.

The secret's out. Cat's out of the bag. What's the secret? The secret is...there are no secrets. Or in other other words, online communication, via Facebook and other sites, has caused people to open up their lives. Many people feel more comfortable expressing things on socia media sites than in person. Sometimes, it can just be easier to type than talk. We all know it and do it. Facebook can be seen as a somewhat of a social group with millions of members. And this group feels closer by giving information. Because sharing is caring. Social media as a whole comes from individual's actions, but can produce
actions that extend beyond the meaning of the individuals. This happens when others make assumptions and know more about a person's private life. Lack of privacy leads to people becoming involved in other's lives and can change a person's perspective of others. This is where the assumptions begin. Privacy is something that is important to some and not so much to others. What people post on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and so on shows whether or not a person values a private or public sphere. And that opens up a whole new can of worms.

So did you hear about...

Now that we've entered the world of social media, it's time to explore. With communication comes assumptions, gossip, and rumors. Traditionally, these things are categorized as bad, but they don't always have to be. They can instead be seen as a way of communication that can establish friendships between groups. Many online assumptions seem to be end up being true, since lots of people post a lot online. So, maybe gossip can be seen as a form of knowledge. As long as it is used correctly and appropriately. For educational purposes of course.

Get Friends in an Insta

FB. Tweet. Insta. Hash Tag. It's the new way to communicate.
Social media is sweeping the nation. Well, at least the online nation. We all use it and love it. But Facebook does more than just connect friends and poke people. Social media sites are a new way to form relationships or help them develop. These relationships can grow between people in the offline world by things they do online.
Looks like the world is going from "single" to "in a relationship."
